If you are looking for a quiet, peaceful, naturally beautiful place to spend some time at, if you want to get away from the maddening crowd and slow down and refresh, rediscover yourself, then Tapovan Ashram is the right place for you.
Since the ashram is intended to provide a conducive setting for peaceful contemplation and not be an alternative for a hotel or tourist resort, clean but basic accomodation has been made available to visitors. The regular inhabitants of the ashram try and live in as eco-friendly a way as possible. There are no hi-tech electronic devices like TV, broadband internet, AC etc. The rooms have simple beds, light and fan, some storage space and toilet. If you do not wish to make a reservation, then you may contact us just before you plan to actually stay at the campus and we can let you know if accomodation is available at that time.

To keep costs low, a common kitchen has been provided with basic resources needed for cooking. The visitors can cook their own food and clean up after the meal and will be charged Rs.300 per day towards food and gas expenses. If you wish to have your food cooked and served by a cook then there will be a charge of Rs.500 per person per day for 3 simple vegetarian meals.

I have thrice visited your ashram. It creates a sense of practice that one has to perform with nature. It is good learning and educational place where one can feel enriched Indian tradition of cure of diseases. Medicinal plants of more than 200 varieties makes the ashram a hub of education on botany. With Dr. RC Mehta and his scholars one can learn the features of ecosystem.
In this context I think the following activities are necessarily to be highlighted through website:
1. Watershed management (experiences of Dr RC Mehta).
2. Cultivation of small medicinal plant nurseries.
3. Cultivation of medicinal plant gardens.
4. Cultivation of orchards.
5. Best practices to sustain the micro-climate.
6. Involvement of manpower in maintaining the nurseries and gardens.
7. New programmes for revenue generation:
- Educational programmes for Schools.
- Educational programmes for society members.
- Eco tourism camps.
- Skill development exercises in the field of botany.
8. Some brochures with interesting pictures can improve the web layout and interest people.
9. More photos of the ashram are to be mentioned in the website.
Hello, I am so very interested in Shikshantar, Swarja University and Tapovan Ashram. My partner and I will be visiting Udaipur in March and are hoping it is ok to come visit. We do not know our exact plans and were hoping it is ok to contact you when we have date in mind.
I am also very interested in participating in any conferences, learning opportunities, workshops etc…. like the economics of happiness. Can you please let me know if there are such things in northern India in March?
Thank you so much and many blessings, Katey
